PARENTS LIVING ALONE

Someone checking in, so they’re never really alone

When a parent lives on their own, small health problems can go unnoticed. ManoHealth’s doctors, nurses and Health Advocate check in on your loved one in the Philippines, and keep you updated every step of the way.

THE DAY-TO-DAY REALITY

Living alone is harder as they get older

And it’s hard to know how they’re really doing from far away.

No one to notice

Changes in health or mood that build up slowly.

Falls and accidents

With no one nearby to help if something happens.

Skipped check-ups

Appointments and medicines that slip when no one reminds them.

“I’m fine, anak”

They may not want to worry you, even when they need help.

HEAR FROM FAMILIES

In their own words

Families share what it’s like to have a team looking after their loved one’s recovery back home.

“As a patient, I felt the compassion of their team, Ruth, their neuro specialist and the physical therapist. They explained everything as if we’ve been long time friends.”

SIGNS TO WATCH FOR

Signs they may need more support

On calls or visits home, look out for these changes. Share them with family and neighbors who check in too.

Time for a check-up

  • Losing weight or skipping meals
  • Missing medicines or appointments
  • Bruises or small falls they don’t mention
  • Seeming more tired, forgetful or down

Call 911 right away

  • Trouble breathing or chest pain
  • Sudden confusion, or weakness on one side
  • A bad fall, or they can’t get up

In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital first. ManoHealth supports your loved one’s care, but is not an emergency service.

QUESTIONS

Common questions from families

Is ManoHealth an emergency hotline?

No. ManoHealth is not an emergency hotline and does not provide emergency care. In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital right away. Once your loved one has arrived at the hospital, their Health Advocate can step in to help, keeping you updated and coordinating the next steps in their care.

Can they keep seeing their own doctor?

Yes. Their Health Advocate can book and go with them to appointments with the doctors they already see, and share updates with you.

Do they need a health condition to join?

No. Many families join simply so someone checks in on a parent who lives alone, before small problems become big ones.

Is this a live-in caregiver?

No. ManoHealth does not provide a live-in caregiver. We check in regularly with doctor and nurse visits, a Health Advocate and updates for you.

Can the Health Wallet help with costs?

Yes, with your approval. Qualified expenses include prescription medicines, doctor and specialist visits, lab tests, rides to appointments and equipment like a walker or commode.

What if they have a question at night?

They can reach a doctor 24/7 by app, video call or landline. For an emergency, call 911 first.

They don’t have to do this alone

Tell us about your loved one. We’ll walk you through how ManoHealth can support their care at home.
